Risks Experienced by Broken Home Children

Broken home can be interpreted as a family where the parents divorce or separate. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency, there were at least 344,237 cases of divorce and divorce in Indonesia in 2014. Divorce is not something that any family wants to experience. But sometimes divorce can be inevitable. And the impact of divorce is felt not only by separated parents, but also by their children. Broken home children whose parents are divorced are likely to feel lost, alienated, afraid of being left alone, angry with one or both parents, feel the cause of parents separating, feel rejected, feel insecure, and confused with parents. Which one. One study revealed that divorce had serious consequences on the psychological well-being of broken home children, not only after divorce but also before divorce. Another study showed that parents who divorced, separated, drank alcoholic beverages, or were exposed to criminal cases contributed to developing antisocial behavior in the child. Divorce parents can also make the child suffer from separation anxiety syndrome (SAD). SAD is a condition in which a child becomes afraid and nervous when he is away from home or separated from a loved one such as separating from divorced parents. This fear can disrupt the normal activities of the child, such as going to school or playing with other children. And not only in the short term, believe in influencing broken home children in the long run. According to research, broken home children are more likely to suffer depression when they are in their twenties. Divorce parents will also affect the child if he has a relationship later on. Statistical studies show that children whose parents are divorced are more likely to get divorced too. There are also broken home children who decide not to marry. They want to have a love affair with other people, but refrain from actually entering or engaging in the relationship. It might even limit yourself or keep your distance. In addition, broken home children are also suspected of having less stable finances when compared to children with full families. Broken home children are also thought to have lower academic achievement, consume more alcoholic beverages, smoke more, and have higher unemployment rates. To prevent all of the above risks, be sure to always be open and share about the situation of the family with children, good communication is important for later development.
